Visa F-2-7 Korea requirements

As I explained in my YouTube lecture, if an international student with D-2-3 visa (master's course) changed to E-7-1 visa before applying for F-2-7 visa, the previous year's income is more than 40 million won or 3 years had passed based on the older guideline.

For the recently revised F-2-7 visa application, domestic master's degree holders may apply for F-2-7 visa even though applicants have not passed 3 years from the period of D-2-3 visa and/or D-10-1 visa. Also they no need to meet 40 million for the previous year's income.

As you may know, of course, international students with master's degrees (D-2-3 visa holders) in Korea must have a score of 80 or higher to apply for F-2-7 visa.

It is important to note that even if you are applying from E-7-1 visa to F-2-7 visa, there are some things you need to check before application.

* First, you must meet the extension requirements for your E-7-1 visa.

- Even if you have a score of 80 and you have a contract with the company you are currently working with, you shall meet the requirements for extension of E-7-1 visa to apply for a change to F-2-7 visa.

- The most important extension requirement for E-7-1 visa is:

i) At least 5 Koreans enrolled in the National Employment Insurance (if there is one E-7-1 visa holder), ii) The amount of income in the previous year is to meet GNI*80 %.

* Second, when changing F-2-7 visa, the annual salary in a valid employment contract shall be at least 2021 confirmed GNI*80%.

- These days, after applying for F-2-7 visa, you have to wait at least 3~4 weeks or more for the result. Therefore, if you go abroad during that period, your visa application will be automatically canceled.

- If there is less than 2 months left in the employment contract, a new employment contract shall be prepared and submitted. This is because the Immigration Review Period for F-2-7 visa may exceed one month.

** For reference, the confirmed 2021 GNI(Gross National Income) is KRW 40,482,000 won, and GNI*80% shall be KRW 32,385,6,000 won
